'Dawn's overworking is causing concerns amongst the other engines. Could the return of an old friend be the help she needs, or will they just have to catch her when she falls?'
- This episode was majorly different when I first wrote it, and thank goodness I rewrote it, as it was just engines literally sitting around and talking. In retrospect, I really like engaging the viewer in such a way, very post-modern. The trains; they talk, but they hardly move! (sarcasm) The original draft was very flashback reliant, and I did film a few shots for it, but only used a few of them in the opening montage of this episode. - I set myself a challenge with this episode, in that I wanted to see if I could use the underrated Hartshorne CGI soundtrack in different contexts. I quite like the theme that is often associated with Whiff, has a very late-night Disneyland feel about it. - I am very proud of the Incline sequence. I rendered it three times to get it looking right, and while it does look kinda halfbaked, I personally put my all into getting the right look for it. - If you are on SiF, you might know that I built the model of Ramona from scratch. Since USA dock tank models aren't cheap, and that I am a fan of the class, I am quite happy with how the model turned out. - Dare I say that the climax is actually based on a real life event? As stated in episode 1's trivia, Dawn's model is the one of the first motorised engines I ever bought. One time I was driving her along the track with a Triang Nellie, and up an incline I'd built. The engines couldn't take the strain, the Triang Nellie overpowered the J50, Dawn started to smoke blue smoke, and I hastily shut off power. I had overworked her original pancake style motor, so I had to refit her with a conventional Hornby 0-6-0 chassis, hence the yellow siderods. - Clay is really old, and is actually the oldest engine amongst them. - I think I might try a full cast episode for Episode 4. I’m sure you all love my dulcet tones, but when it gets to the point where I have to do a female American voice, I would prefer to give you lot authenticity on that front.
